Surya looked at Dambhodbhava with surprise as the asura continued, 'The thousand armours can be broken only by someone who performs penance for a thousand years! And that is not all.' Surya looked at Dambhodbhava with horror as he continued, 'Whoever breaks my armour should die immediately!' Dambhodbhava bowed to him, 'My Lord! If you cannot make me immortal atleast grant me this boon!' Surya looked suspiciously as Dambhodbhava continued, 'I want to be protected by a thousand armours!' Surya stood there patiently waiting for Dambhodbhava to ask him, when he suddenly saw a glint in Dambhodbhava's eyes. He knew that no matter how much he asked, Surya would never grant him the boon of immortality. All the time he had spent meditating were a waste. Surya frowned, 'That is not possible! Everything that is born has to die! Immortality is out of question!'ĭambhodbhava's shoulder drooped. Surya smiled, 'I wish to grant you a boon! Ask anything from me!'ĭambhodbhava hid a smile, 'My Lord! Please make me immortal!' Surya appeared before him, 'Open your eyes son! I am pleased with your devotion!'ĭambhodbhava bowed before him, 'Lord! I am blessed to see you!' However, she says that she wouldn't know if her blessings can save him from Bhim and Arjun.Much much before the Mahabharatha, there lived as asura called Dambhodbhava. He knows that war can never be for the betterment of humanity, and therefore, he shares his concerns with the Pandavas.Įventually, in the evening, Duryodhana visits Kunti to take her blessings, and she prays that he lives a long life. Later, Shri Krishna feels disheartened after the Kauravas refuse peace. Thus, by saying so, he states that nothing can deter him from being by the side of his friend. But Karna tells her that he shall reject all the wealth and power to support his friend, Duryodhana. Interestingly, like Shri Krishna, Kunti also tells Karna that if he returns to his family, his brothers shall shower him with unconditional love, and also make him the King of Indraprastha. He explains how he has longed for her and therefore, asks her not to expect anything that he wouldn't be able to give. Initially, he even refuses to acknowledge her feelings because he wonders why she abandoned him soon after his birth. She makes up her mind to tell the world that Karna is her eldest son, but he refuses to go with her. Next afternoon, after Karna offers his prayers to the Sun God, Kunti meets him to appeal to him to return home with her.
She gets disturbed after seeing the dream, and therefore she decides to meet Karna, the next day. Kunti, who is aware of the consequences of war, says that no matter who wins, she will have unending tears to shed.Įventually, at night, Kunti dreams about seeing Karna and Arjun killing each other on the battlefield. And hence he wonders how the Pandavas will use their weapons against him. Later, when Vidur returns home, he tells Kunti that Bhishma Pitamah has been appointed as the commander-in-chief of the army. Therefore, he appeals to the King to relieve him from his duty. He says that he wouldn't be able to bear the sight of brothers killing one another on the battlefield.
